Car crashes through gates at Arroyo Verde Park in Ventura
Saturday morning shortly after 7:30am the Ventura Police Department Command Center received several 9-1-1 calls regarding a vehicle speeding inside Arroyo Verde Park. While Officers were responding to the area communications received updated information that the vehicle was involved in a traffic collision inside the park.
Officers arrived on scene and located the traffic collision on the far north end of the park. Witnesses reported seeing the speeding Chevrolet sedan reach the parking lots near the baseball fields then collide with two separate access gate poles and the hillside. Due to the severity of the collision, the Ventura Police Department Traffic Unit responded to assist in conducting this investigation.
Ventura City Fire personnel who were on scene rendered medical aid to the sole occupant and driver of the vehicle who was then transported to Ventura County Medical Center with major injuries. Remarkably no one else was injured as a result of this collision. The collision is still under investigation anyone with information related to this traffic collision is urged to call the Ventura Police Department Traffic Unit (805) 339-4437.
