Casa Pacifica Celebrates National Volunteer Appreciation Week with Special Deliveries

Camarillo, CA – Casa Pacifica celebrated National Volunteer Appreciation Week with special deliveries to their volunteer award winners. These annual awards are usually presented at a special employee town hall luncheon, but due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis and the luncheon was cancelled. Four special people received deliveries from Casa Pacifica staff and youth: PODS Tri-Counties, Community Volunteer of the Year; Tami Cook, Angel of the Year; and Stefanie Wennes, Amigo of the Year. Also honored was Sonny Grenier who was given the Seraphim award which is chosen by the Casa Pacifica Angels President, currently Debbie Simpson, and given to a recipient who has been an outstanding volunteer. “We are thrilled to be able to honor these outstanding individuals whose volunteer efforts exhibit immeasurable dedication and commitment to our youth,” commented Carrie L. Hughes, Casa Pacifica’s Chief Development Officer.

PODS Tri-Counties, Community Volunteer of the Year – A longtime supporter of Casa Pacifica, PODS owner Steve Yapp has been involved in many capacities – from helping us manage storage on campus to supporting the children’s personal needs – PODS does it all. During the holiday season, they not only help us manage storing gifts and keeping all our kid’s presents organized and ready for distributing, but Steve also provide holiday gifts for our kids. This year, they sponsored a campus trip to Universal Studios – a highlight of the year for the youth. Additionally, they support all our storage needs during our annual Wine, Food & Brew Festival. They support not only Casa Pacifica but many other nonprofits in the Tri-Counties – thank you PODS for making our community a better place!

Tamiann Cook, Angel of the Year – Although relatively new to Casa Pacifica, Tami has been an amazing supporter – going above and beyond in so many ways. She can be seen at almost all of the children’s events on campus – ready to lend a hand and bring fun, creative ideas to the table. In addition to being on the Angels Board of Directors, Tami serves on our Planned Giving Committee where she happily lends her financial expertise. Her willingness to share her time, talent, and treasures has been priceless!

Stefanie Wennes, Amigo of the Year – Actively involved with Casa Pacifica for more than fourteen years, Stefanie truly embodies the spirit of giving. She has served as our Amigos President and on our Board of Directors since 2016. As President, Stefanie was involved in all facets of the auxiliary group. Under her leadership, the focus of the group remained solely on the kid’s current interests and everchanging needs. For her years of service, support, and love, we are so grateful.

Sonny Grenier, Seraphim Award Winner – Sonny has been involved in our annual Wine, Food & Brew Festival for over twenty years. He is currently serving as Festival Co-Chair of Operations, an integral role he takes on with grace. Whether it’s long hours of meticulously taping a-frame signs or countless hours of planning, Sonny’s leadership has helped grow the Festival into the premiere event it is today. In addition to his help with the Festival, Sonny has been hosting the youth of Casa Pacifica at Skating Plus free-of-charge for years. The amount he has given throughout the years is astounding and we are truly grateful to have a one-of-a-kind volunteer and donor like Sonny!
