Celebrate a Ventura Strong 4th of July

Ventura Strong. There is no better theme for this year’s 4th of July Street Fair, held upon numerous local streets of Ventura’s Downtown Cultural District.

The 43rd annual fair on Wednesday, July 4 starts at 10am on Palm Street with the band Love Handles. The music continues nonstop on Palm, Oak, Mission and California Streets until 5pm. There are also over 200 artisans with arts and crafts on Main St. from Fir St. to Mission Park. Of course, don’t forget the food by local businesses and organizations.

Not much has changed since the last parade, explained Michelle Godoy with the City of Ventura. “It has grown in size,” she said. “As for the theme, Ventura Strong came from the aftermath of the Thomas Fire and the residents will not back down but have become stronger.”

The families of Ventura remain strong by attending activities like this parade and the organizers know this to be true. They will have a huge Kids Zone at Mission Park, with rides, bouncy castles and an opportunity to visit an engine of the Ventura Fire Department.

There is also an event called the Pushem Pullem Parade where adults and children are encouraged to bring over their little red wagons and bikes for a stroll down Main St. This event is organized by the Ventura East Rotary Club and meets up at Cemetery Park at 9am, ventures down Main at 9:30. No signups, just show up!

Bands featured throughout the day include Got Rhythm and Vendo after Love Handles on Palm Street; the Barranca Vista Dancers, Rubicon Theater, Channelaire Chorus, Channel Islands Harmony Chorus and 805 Rhythm on Oak St.; and Raised on Vinyl, Footworks Youth Ballet and Mighty Cash Cats on California St.
