VENTURA, California – District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that Cameron Lykins (DOB 11-02-1995), of Ojai, was charged with murder and a special allegation that he used a sledgehammer in the killing of Houston Auer that occurred in Ojai on May 12, 2019.
Lykins was arrested later that day by Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies in Lone Pine, California, where he had fled after the murder. Mr. Auer’s body has yet to be recovered by law enforcement and the investigation is ongoing.
Lykins appeared in court on May 14, 2019. Arraignment was continued to June 13, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. in courtroom 13 of the Ventura County Superior Court. Lykins is currently in custody with bail set at $2 million.
