Child sex offender arrested in Peeping Tom incident

link times; font-size: 16px;”>On May 19, 2014, at approximately 1 a.m., deputies from the Thousand Oaks Police Department were dispatched to a suspicious subject call. An unknown male was seen in the backyard of the victim’s residence. He was seated in a chair watching the victim, who was inside of her residence. When the victim became aware of the suspect, he fled the area. During the initial call, deputies learned that a vehicle belonging to Mark Swearingen, a registered sex offender, was seen leaving the area. Patrol was unable to locate the suspect.

On May 20, 2014, detectives contacted Mark Swearingen at his residence in Thousand Oaks. Swearingen at first denied any involvement, but later confessed to his wrongdoings. Swearingen was arrested for misdemeanor charges of 647(i) PC / Peeking and 647.6 (a) (1) PC / Child Annoying.

Ventura County Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 reward for information, which leads to the arrest and criminal complaint against the person(s) responsible for this crime. The caller may remain anonymous. The call is not recorded. Call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
