CitizensJournal.US Co-Founder Takes on the LA Times: 45th President Donald J. Trump: “Commander-In-Chief” (Part VI)

By Michael Hernandez

(Editor’s Note:  This is the last in a series of 6 rebuttals written as a response to six editorials published by the Los Angeles Times April 2-7th – ).

  1. Afghanistan Strike: “Eradicating not Containing The Enemy”

April 13:   The U.S. drops a Massive Ordinance Air Blast (MOAB). The 21,600 pound GPS-guided conventional bomb was dropped in the Anchin district of the Nangarhar province.  The MOAB known as “the Mother of All Bombs” was the largest non-nuclear bomb ever used by the U.S. military and was dropped by a MC-130 special operations transport and had been brought to Afghanistan “some time ago” for potential use.

A new day is here:  America is eradicating ISIS and not satisfied with “containing” Islamic terrorists as former President Barack Obama told ABC News George Stephanopoulos in a November, 2015 interview in which he said, “From the start, our goal has been to contain them.”

To read more about Obama’s “containment” strategy of ISIS see link:

A new day is here:  Military operations are not micro-managed—typical of the former White House—which even chose to “stand down” when Americans were in danger in Benghazi (Sept. 11, 2012).  But generals are given the authority to “make tactical decisions on the ground about both targeting and weapons.”

To read more about the Benghazi “stand down” orders read

A new day is here:   We are proud of our military  and treat them  with honor. “We have the greatest military In the world,”  said  President Trump.    “We have given them total authorization and that’s what they’re doing and frankly that’s why they have been so successful lately.”

  1. Syria Missile Strike: “Strong Humanitarian American Leadership”

April 7:   Pentagon officials announced that President Trump ordered a cruise missile strike (59 Tomahawk cruise missiles) against a Syrian regime military airbase in response to a chemical weapons attack carried out by the Syrian regime of President Bashar al-Assad on Tuesday where 100 were killed and possibly another 400 wounded. The strike was aimed at deterring another chemical weapons attack by the regime.

A new day is here:  When America draws a “red line” not to be crossed—“we mean what we say” and we will not allow for chemical warfare but follow the Geneva Protocol for the Prohibition of the Use in War of Asphyxiating, Poisonous or other Gases and of Bacteriological Methods of Warfare drafted June 17, 1925 and effective Feb. 8, 1928.

To read more about the Geneva Protocol see U.S. State Department link:

A new day is here:     America is not in the “reset” mode with Russia—allowing Russia to be “free to do what they want; where they want in the world” as was the case with former President Barack Obama and his Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2009 when she presented Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov with a red button that said “overcharged” rather than “reset.”  (Note:  Russia has been given an “ultimatum” to either stand with the U.S. or stand with Syria.)

To read more on how the Russian “reset” has failed read the Washington Post:

A new day is here:   No more presidential apologies for America.  We realize that we are an “exceptional” nation that has a role to play in world leadership.  Other nations are waiting for “our lead” and will follow when we choose to do what is “morally right.”
