Camarillo Facilitates PPE Distribution to Local Businesses
Camarillo, California – Camarillo stepped in to humbly assist the Economic Development Collaborative’s Small Business Development Center (EDC SBDC) in a no-touch-distribution of free Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to local businesses, at the Camarillo Ranch.
The EDC SBDC event took place on August 5, 2020, at the Camarillo Ranch, located at 201 Camarillo Ranch Road in Camarillo. Camarillo City employees and volunteers from Camarillo’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) joined the EDC SBDC team to distribute free hand sanitizer, face masks, and face shields to Ventura County businesses who have self-attested that they have opened in accordance with the State and County health orders.
Earlier in the week, Camarillo City employees helped unload 26 pallets of PPE into the Camarillo Ranch Barn. The pallets contained the hand sanitizer, face masks, and face shields, which were made available through the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) and in partnership with Los Angeles Regional Small Business Development Center Network and Economic Development Collaborative.
“We had a whole range of partners, including the City of Camarillo, who gave us this facility to use to distribute to all of these cars out here,” explained Ray Bowman, director of the Small Business Development Center of Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, who went on to say, “We’ve had hundreds of cars today show up and hundreds of businesses getting the PPE they need.”
Camarillo was humbled by the opportunity to participate in an event that helps, not only Camarillo businesses but small businesses countywide, in business recovery efforts throughout this COVID-19 pandemic.
