City of Oxnard Community Development Director Jeffrey Lambert announces the appointment of Rosie Ornelas as Oxnard’s new Economic Development Manager. Ms. Ornelas will begin August 12, 2019.
Ornelas most recently served as Economic Development Analyst for the City of Thousand Oaks, California. In this role, she implemented the City’s economic development activities to support business attraction, expansion, and retention and served as a key point of contact for business and property owners to support business vitality and the City’s economic prosperity.
Ornelas will join the Community Development team under Director Jeffrey Lambert’s leadership. Ornelas will fill a key position that has been missing in Oxnard. “I am very pleased that Ms. Ornelas has chosen to join our team,” said City Manager Alexander Nguyen. “I’m especially looking forward to her focus on job skills development to match Oxnard residents with Oxnard employers.”
Before her time in the City of Thousand Oaks, Ornelas served as Economic Development Management Analyst for the City of Ventura in the City Manager’s Office. Ornelas served the City of Ventura from 2007 to 2018 in many capacities. Ornelas brings extensive marketing experience, strong communication skills and is bilingual in English and Spanish. Ornelas says of her appointment “I’m excited to join the City of Oxnard’s team and to be a part of a dynamic and diverse community.
