    City of Santa Paula and Santa Paula Unified School District Partner for Summer Camp Program

    Santa Paula, CA – The Santa Paula Parks and Recreation Department’s Summer Camp Program is returning stronger than ever this year with the City’s new partnership with the Santa Paula Unified School District (SPUSD). The City’s Summer Camp and SPUSD’s annual Summer Academy are combining to offer the community an enjoyable camp opportunity for children aged 5 to 14.

    “The City’s summer camp program has been limited over the last few years due to the pandemic and facility constraints, and we wanted to bring back some excitement this summer,” said Santa Paula Parks and Recreation Director Gregory Barnes. “Collaborating with the SPUSD allows us to pool our resources together to offer exceptional programs and experiences for Santa Paula’s youth.”

    The summer camp program will be held at Barbara Webster and Glen City Elementary Schools. For the first time ever, 400 Santa Paula students will be able to attend eight weeks of free, full-day summer programming at two local elementary schools. Arts and crafts, enrichment and STEM activities, outdoor recreation, guest speakers and field trips will fill the days of the eight-week program.

    The free program includes breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack for Santa Paula students. at no cost.Bus transportation will not be available, so transportation to the sites must be arranged individually. Registration for this summer is full, but you can join the waitlist on SPUSD’s website.

    Camp at each school will begin promptly at 8 a.m., and the school district will provide breakfast upon arrival. In the morning, children will participate in activities organized by the school district’s Summer Academy program. Students will be guided through academic enrichment opportunities by elementary school teachers in:

    • Math

    • Language arts

    • Social-emotional learning

    After lunch, the City’s Parks and Recreation Department will lead the Summer Camp activities, where kids will be able to engage in extracurricular activities such as:

    • STEM activities

    • Guest speakers and presenters

    • Swimming lessons

    • Outdoor recreation and sports

    • Arts and crafts

    Swimming classes will be offered at Santa Paula High School. The Channel Islands YMCA has been contracted to provide lifeguard and instructional services to students interested in swimming lessons.
