    Classical Concerts on the Hill Presents 2019-2020 Chamber Music Season

    THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Hillcrest Center for the Arts announces a new series of eight classical concerts in the “Hall of Mirrors”, Sunday Afternoons at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, 403 W. Hillcrest Dr, across from The Oaks Mall.  Internationally renowned classical artists and well-known local chamber groups and musicians will perform in this acoustically-perfect and intimate venue, featuring classical music the way it was first performed for the Royal Families in Europe.  Soloists included in the series include Pianist Anastasia Dedik, Violinist Brynn Albanase and pianist Ilya Friedberg. Chamber groups include Channel Islands String Quartet, Luminoso Piano Quartet and Singer Chamber Quartet.  Unique offerings include Shelest Duo, husband and wife pianists and Rising Stars of L.A. Opera.  Season tickets begin as low as $11 per concert. 

    Pianist Anastasia Dedik headlines the first concert in the series on Sunday, October 27 at 2 p.m.  Dedik has performed as a soloist and chamber musician from the Kennedy Center to Carnegie Hall and is a top prize winner for a number of international piano competitions including the Bösendorfer and Yamaha USASU.

    This concert is the first of a full concert series of eight that will feature classical music at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts. The goal of the series is to provide world-class chamber groups and soloists to local audiences in an intimate setting.  All concerts feature reserved seating with tickets that are affordably priced and reduced tickets for students and seniors.   Series Artistic Director Gulia Gurevich is a violinist and a violist of the Prima Trio, a mixed ensemble which had won a Grand Prix at the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition. She resides in Southern California with her husband and two young daughters. Gulia is also the owner and director of a music school, runs a festival in France, and a classical music series in the Los Angeles area.  “I am thrilled to be able to bring world class, award winning musicians to Thousand Oaks,” says Gurevich.  “The facilities here at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts are beautiful.”

    Anastasia Dedik Concert reserved single seats are $20.00 for Keyboard/Premium and Wheelchair Keyboard/Premium tickets.  Reserved tickets in the regular section are $17.00.  Value seating section tickets are $15.00.  Season tickets allow savings up to 25% over single concert prices, with refunds and exchanges available.  A “pick four series” is also available.  The best seats are in the Keyboard/Premium section allowing for the closest view of the artists’ fingers on the keyboard of the Steinway Grand Piano.    Tickets may be purchased at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts Box Office or by calling (805) 381-1246 or www.hillcrestarts.com.

    Established in 2001, the Quartet’s members: Irving Weinstein, Ted Lucas, Diana Ray-Goodman, & Ervin Klinkon, bring a wealth of both musical and educational experiences to its concerts. Performances include fascinating information to offer a peek into the life of the composers & the compositions’ background.

    Brynn Albanase, Violinist

    Brynn Albanese has celebrated a career spanning 35 years from California to the East Coast, Europe, Asia and South America. Violin has been part of her life since the age of four. She is the Concertmaster of the San Luis Obispo Symphony and the San Luis Obispo Opera Grand Orchestra. Brynn is also on the music Faculty at Cal-Poly San Luis Obispo.

    Shelest Duo, Pianists

    The Ukrainian husband and wife team, Anna & Dmitri Shelest, have performed in a broad array of venues and have been praised by the Secretary General of the UN as “realized diplomacy through music.” They have performed onstage at Carnegie Hall and their music has been featured on a number of radio stations nationwide.

    Ilya Friedberg, Pianist

    Pianist of the Bloomington Trio, Ilya Friedberg has been described as an “Artist who puts his listener to a musical magic” by pianist Menahem Pressler. Ilya is a passionate chamber musician and is a sought-after collaborator among the members of Los Angeles Philharmonic and Chicago Symphony among others.

    Rising Stars of LA Opera

    Join us for Rising Opera Stars in Concert, a showcase performance starring members of the Los Angeles Opera Young Artist Program. The program is a two- to three -year paid residency for singers and pianists who are transitioning from academic training to a professional career in opera.

    Luminoso Piano Quartet

    The Luminoso Piano Quartet began in 2015 to bring together the pairing of strings with the Hillcrest Centers’ Steinway piano. Araksia Nazlikyan, Diana Ray-Goodman, Jan Kelley & Ornela Ervin, performers with the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic, began the road to many wonderful experiences as a quartet.

    Singer Chamber Players

    Clarinetist David Singer founded the Singer Chamber Players in 2015. Singer established his career as one of the most highly respected clarinetists in the US through performances and recordings as principal clarinetist of the Grammy Award winning Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. He is joined by cellist Virginia Kron and by pianist Miriam Arichea.
