Cocktails in Havana 2015: Raising funds for Habitat for Humanity–What a Night!

Last Friday the Ventura County chapter of Habitat for Humanity held one of its largest fundraising events thus far.  Peter Kalaydjian has hosted the event for four years in his home in the Santa Rosa Valley.  It has since outgrown the space and moved to a nearby venue this time around.

With music from 60’s pop songs to reggae, guests, a good many from the real estate industry, danced and sampled fare from local restaurants, who donated their food and time for this good cause.  One of them was La Dolce Vita, from Oxnard which advertises with Citizens Journal.  They served two kinds of pasta and an over the top tasty garlic bread.

Other vendors served spirits like, Motalvo Spirits.  They make some mighty fine tequila.

Habitat for Humanity is currently building a number of homes in Santa Paula.  Thousands apply for the chance at home ownership.  To qualify they have to be a low income family, living currently in substandard housing and be willing to participate in the construction of their own home.
