dosage arial, dosage sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;”>A white van traveling west on Madera Rd. in Simi Valley around 2:30 p. m. collided with a black SUV making a left turn from Presidential Dr. onto Madera Rd. eastbound. A witness to the accident stated that the white van ran the red light, but is yet to be confirmed by investigators. The driver and two passengers of the SUV were trapped in their vehicle.
Ventura County firefighters and rescue from engine 44 serving Simi Valley responded to the scene of the accident. Using the Jaws of Life devices, they opened the roof of the SUV, which laid on its side and extracted the occupants. Two of the passengers sustained injuries and were taken to Los Robles Hospital by ambulance. The driver of the van and its passengers were not injured.
The intersection is at the entrance of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. Many vehicles presumably visiting First Lady Nancy Reagan’s gravesite were diverted to side streets.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
