Colonia gang member Charged with Firearms Violations

Oxnard Police Department – Incident Press Release

On August 26, 2017 Officers from the Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit (Gang Unit) were conducting directed gang enforcement in the Colonia neighborhood in the 100 Block of S. Juanita, Oxnard, CA.

At approximately 4:00PM, SEU officers contacted Colonia gang member John Rodriguez. Rodriguez was found to be on probation and he was escorted to his residence where a probation search was conducted. Officers located a loaded, illegal shotgun in Rodriguez room. Rodriguez was also found to be in possession of narcotics. Rodriguez was arrested without incident and charged with several firearm related violations and possession of narcotics.

The Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit is committed to reducing gang crimes and gun violence in the City of Oxnard through the strict enforcement of laws specifically targeting known, active gang members residing in the city. Citizens are reminded to contact the Police Department when they observe suspicious activity or are witnesses to a crime.
