Comedy Cabaret every month in Thousand Oaks

comedy.1HashtagComedy has been bringing some of Hollywood’s funniest headliners to Thousand Oaks each month for an evening of entertainment.  December’s fun and intimate cabaret setting is Saturday, December 10 at 8:00 pm at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, 403 W. Hillcrest Dr.  This month’s lineup features stand-up performances by Julia Jasunas, Paul Elia, Lauren Ashley Bishop, Bijan Mostafavi and Justin Foster.  The hour and a half show is for eighteen years and up only, and cocktails may be purchased with valid ID.  Doors open at 7:30. 

Each month, the Hillcrest Center brings a multicultural line-up of professional comedians right to our backyard.  These are some of Hollywood’s most popular headlining comics who perform regularly in Hollywood and other L.A. venues.  Dates for future HashtagComedy performances have been announced and are listed below. Summer settings are often outside, under the stars. Please note: these shows are 18+ and may feature humor that will be offensive to some.      

Julia Jasunas is the producer of HashtagComedyLA and a native to the Conejo Valley. Julia is a comedienne, actor, singer/songwriter, dancer and all around performer. You can often find Julia performing stand-up comedy at many Hollywood hot spots such as The Comedy Store, The Hollywood Improv, Westside Comedy Theatre, Flappers Comedy Club, and The Lyric Theatre as well as The Comedy Palace and Madhouse Comedy Club in San Diego, Ca. Most recently, Julia opened for 2015 Last Comic Standing Finalist, Ian Bagg at the Pittsburgh Improv and currently travels the country performing at various venues with Chris Porter, John Heffron, Eddie Ifft, Ahmed Ahmed and more! She has also been featured in many regional musicals such as “Annie” (featuring Sally Struthers) with Cabrillo Music Theatre and “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” as well as a few national commercials.

Paul Elia is an actor/comedian of Chaldean decent. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Paul relocated to Los Angeles is 2010 and has had several guest appearances on television shows such as Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Mixology. Paul began doing stand-up in 2010 right before moving to Los Angeles. Since then, he has done stand up all over the country including tours and festivals in Detroit, Chicago, and the Middle East. He has opened up for such comedians as Dana Carvey, Jason Stuart, and Chris Kattan.

Lauren Ashley Bishop is originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, and has performed stand-up all over the country, including venues such as The Chicago Improv, Zanies, The Ice House, The Lakeshore Theatre, and Gotham Comedy Club in New York.  Also an accomplished actor and member of SAG, AFTRA and AEA, she has been featured in Second City’s “Romeo & Juliet Musical” at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues” at The Apollo Theatre, “Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?” at Theatre at the Center, and in the National Broadway Tour of “Scrooge, The Musical” with Richard Chamberlain.  Lauren has appeared in national commercials and voiced countless radio and TV ads, and is a graduate of Northwestern University.

Bijan Mostafavi is a Persian-American stand-up comedian out of San Diego, California who has performed at clubs and colleges all over the country and has appeared on FOX Laughs, is the winner of the Grey Goose San Diego Top Comedian, and is also a featured comedian on

Justin Foster is a native Texas comedian who travels the country performing at theaters is Seattle, bar basements in North Dakota, and every place in between.  Justin has been featured on the Joe Rogan Podcast, the Burbank Comedy Festival, the Cape Fear Comedy Festival in North Carolina, San Diego Comedy Festival, “Fresh Faces” at the Laugh Factory, and has been voted one of the Top Funniest Comics in Texas by the Improv multiple times. Sub.Urban Comedy said, “Justin quickly charms the audience from the minute he walks on stage, and has them eating out of the palm of his hand the entire show. Drawing material mostly from past and current life experiences, sobriety, dating, and his crazy family, Justin always makes the audience feel comfortable with his unique style of comedy.”

#COMEDY dates have been scheduled for the upcoming 2016-17 Season.  All shows begin at 8:00 pm with the doors opening at 7:30 pm.  Dates for 2017 are January 21, February 18, March 18, April 15, May 20 and June 17, 2017.
