Concert Series at Four Friends: Berkley Hart

BROGDEN BAY PRESENTS A Concert Series at the Four Friends Gallery

NEXT UP: Berkley Hart

BrogdenBay Presents and Larry Janss’ Four Friends Gallery launch a series of live music concerts in Thousand Oaks.  The next concert up is Berkley Hart, featuring Jeff Berkley and Calman Hart on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 8:00 pm at the Four Friends Gallery, located at 1414 East Thousand Oaks Blvd. in Thousand Oaks.

Berkley Hart can bring you to tears and make you laugh … in the same song!! And they’ll add some food for thought for good measure. This pairing of Kerrville New Folk Songwriter Award winner, Jeff Berkley, and wordsmith, Calman Hart, creates a pairing that has become one of the premier acoustic duos touring the country.  Each show combines their natural down-home humor with poignant, delicate, masterfully crafted lyrics delivered with stunning harmony and musicianship. Between songs, the obvious camaraderie between these two top songwriters shines as they effortlessly play off each other in what can only be called genuine comedy. Add in virtuoso playing from both Jeff Berkley (guitar) and Calman Hart (guitar, harmonica) and it’s easy to see why the two have become live favorites.

Both emerged from the Southern California coffeehouse circuit, each building sizeable followings of their own before joining forces. They’ve been playing together for over ten years on the folk circuit at the Kerrville Folk Festival and at some of folk’s most prestigious venues including The Birchmere in Virginia and The Bluebird Café in Nashville. In 2005, they staged the first “O Berkley, Where Hart Thou?” a multi-artist extravaganza that featured music from the film “O Brother Where Art Thou?” and other ‘old-timey’ tunes.

Limited seating is available in this intimate setting.  Tickets are $25 prepaid and $30 at the door, and are available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/berkley-hart-tickets-31567730933?ref=ebtnebtckt

Bettman & Halpin will appear on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at 3 p.m.  Bettman & Halpin play original Folk/Americana. Their concerts combine high-energy upbeat roots inspired compositions, beautiful ballads with soaring vocals and heartfelt lyrics, and groovy feel-good songs that audiences will be singing in their heads for weeks thereafter. Interspersed between these songs and instrumentals, they tell stories. They have become as known for their storytelling and playful banter as well as for their hooky whole-hearted songwriting and instrumental wizardry. They have been touring as a duo since 2008, and incorporating a trio and quartet since 2013.

Blues Hall of Fame legend Corky Siegel will return to the Gallery on September 25, 2017, this time accompanied by two-time Grammy nominee Matthew Santos, the voice of the platinum selling hit “Superstar.” Corky appeared here last year with James Lee Stanley and Jimmy Vivino. Corky is considered to be among the top harmonica virtuosos internationally, as well as a superb jazz pianist. He is the only bluesman to record two releases on prestigious classical label Deutsche Grammophon which were blockbusters in sales, and likewise his chamber ensemble, Chamber Blues, is the only classical group on Blues giant Alligator Records. The new Chamber Blues CD, Different Voices, which features Santos, received Downbeat Magazine’s Editors’ Pick.
