Construction Workers Save 2-Month-Old Baby, Toddler, Dropped From Burning Building

New Mexico construction workers saved the life of a two-month-old baby as well as a toddler from an apartment fire Sunday.

Construction crews working on a roof in Albuquerque, New Mexico, were able to rescue the children before firefighters arrived after a fire broke out in the apartment building next door, an ABC affiliate reported.

Brothers Mason Fierro and Jermaine Gallien ran over to the apartment building after they saw a man yelling for help from a second story window.

“We saw him hanging out of the window with his baby, his two month old baby,” Fierro said.

The brothers, along with the rest of their crew, rushed below the window and urged the man to drop the baby out of the window so they could catch her.

They caught the baby girl, and then caught a little boy of two or three who appeared in the window after that.

“The scene and catch, that baby girl and the baby boy, it just touched me. He stepped up and really became the hero of the day,” Gallien said.

The crews brought ladders to the window to rescue the father, and walked door-to-door to rescue others trapped in the building.

Firefighters eventually arrived and a woman was arrested for arson. Police said she used paper and electric stove start two fires in the apartment, KTUU reported(RELATED: 2 Italian Students Fined $15M For Causing Forest Fire With BBQ)

“We had each other’s back, and it was just an all-in thing,” Fierro said.
