Consultant pleads guilty to Foreclosure Fraud

Totten announced today that Canyon Lake resident Patrick Iturra (DOB 7/27/70) pleaded guilty to two felony counts of foreclosure consultant fraud and three felony counts of grand theft. The charges were the result of an investigation conducted by the District Attorney’s Real Estate Fraud Unit.
price arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;”>Iturra operated a fraudulent business under the name of Mercury Business Group. He solicited homeowners with promises of saving their distressed residences from foreclosure. Iturra received thousands of dollars from victims, who received no actual assistance. All but one of the victims lost their homes to foreclosure. The victims’ monetary losses exceed $100,000.
Iturra will be sentenced on February 16, 2017, at 8:30 a.m. in courtroom 46. He is expected receive 365 days in jail and will be ordered to pay restitution to the victims. Two co-defendants, Oxnard residents Roberto Sanchez (DOB 12/28/48) and Rosalva Sanchez (DOB 9/9/53) earlier pleaded guilty to felony grand theft and foreclosure consultant fraud. They were each sentenced to 180 days in jail and ordered to pay victim restitution.
