    County of Ventura: Covid 19 Update February 9, 2021

    Vaccine Update – now open to 65 and older

    Vaccines are in limited supply throughout the State of California. The current phase in Ventura County is Phase 1A: Healthcare workers, long-term care residents and now 65 and older (effective 2/9/21 65 and older are in the current vaccine phase).

    Appointments are limited because of the limited supply of vaccines. It will take time to secure an appointment if you are in the current phase. The County of Ventura wants you to have a vaccine and is advocating for more vaccines.

    Community members who are eligible to be vaccinated may:

    2) Those with limited computer/internet access may call the phone registration line at 805-477-7161. The phone line is open Monday through Friday 8:00-5:00.

    The Area Agency on Aging provides transportation services for older adults that are in need of transportation to a vaccine appointment or for COVID-19 testing. This includes people that need lift assist as well as gurney transportation. The driver will take the individual, wait for them, help them at the site and take them home. To schedule a ride call 805-477-7300. Please note, you must have a vaccine appointment before you schedule a ride to a vaccine site.

    COVID-19 Update

    There are 276 new COVID-19 cases. There have been 3,686 new COVID-19 tests performed for a total of 1,030,683 total tests performed. There 244 people who are currently hospitalized and 62 in the ICU.

    There have been 5 additional deaths: 77 year old male, 66 year old male, 59 year old male, 57 year old male, and a 75 year old female.

    We extend our deepest sympathy to the families of those who have passed away.

    If you have tested positive for COVID-19 and have questions:

    • Individuals who have tested positive for COVID19 and provided a cell number to the testing site at the time they took the COVID19 test, will receive a text message from Ventura County Public Health (VCPH) with a survey link for case investigation/contact tracing purposes. The message is in English and Spanish. Please respond to the text message by completing the text survey.
    • In the text survey, you will find information on isolation/quarantine, links to more information and resources and VCPH Communicable Disease (CD) unit’s main phone line.
    • If you complete the survey and indicate that you are unable to self-isolate, your case is noted and you will be assigned to a case investigator. The case investigator will contact you for follow up and assistance.
    • If you do not provide a cell phone number to the testing site, you will be assigned to a case investigator for follow up.
    • VCPH’s main CD line (805) 981-5201 is staffed 7 days a week from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. If someone calls after hours, they are provided with an after-hours number they can call, or they can leave a message that VCPH will return their call the next day. The recording is in both English and Spanish.

    Individuals needing assistance with isolation/quarantine can call the helpline at (805) 981-5201. It is staffed 7 days a week from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. A nurse is also available to speak to after hours.

    COVID-19 Testing

    Spotlight on the testing site in Oxnard. All testing sites are free. Testing is offered for those that live or work in Ventura County. There are testing sites open 7 days a week. Wait times are short and results are within 3 days or less.
