County Planning Division Hosts Community Workshop to Discuss How Sea Level Rise Will Affect Unincorporated Areas of Ventura County

The Ventura County Planning Division will host two public workshops on sea level rise on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 as part of the VC Resilient Coastal Adaptation Project. The purpose of the VC Resilient project is to gain a better understanding of sea level rise and local coastal hazards, and to plan for a safe and healthy future.

The upcoming public workshops will be educational in nature and provide an opportunity to learn how much sea level rise and coastal storm surges may impact daily life and existing resources in the unincorporated coastal areas of Ventura County.  The results of the County’s draft Vulnerability Assessment report will be presented, followed by open house work stations.  This report evaluates sea level rise impacts including economic impacts and impacts on natural resources through the year 2100.  Please note that the report only considers the unincorporated areas and does not provide an evaluation of sea level rise impacts to any of the local cities.  We welcome you to attend and become more sea level wise!

The afternoon meeting will be focused on the North and Central Coasts while the evening meeting will be focused on the South Coast.

Project information is available online at www.vcrma.org/vc-resilient-coastal-adaptation-project.
