County Residents Suspects in Sales of Narcotics

Ventura County Sheriff – Incident Press Release

On October 15, 2020, detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Street Team concluded a narcotics sales investigation involving Sarah Granberry and Arnold Cortez from Ventura, who were involved in the sales of narcotics to residents of Ventura County.

In late September 2020, detectives received information regarding Cortez’ involvement in the sales of methamphetamine to residents in Ventura County. In early October, detectives began an investigation and found Cortez was in custody at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility after he was arrested by officers of the Ventura Police Department for narcotics sales and a Post- Release Offender Supervision (PROS) violation. That arrest took place on October 10, 2020.

Detectives conducted a follow up investigation and identified Granberry as Cortez’ girlfriend. The investigation indicated Cortez and Granberry were working together and coordinating the sales of various quantities of methamphetamine. Through the investigation, detectives were able to obtain a search warrant for their residence located in the 200 Block of Spring Street in Ventura.

On October 15, 2020, detectives contacted Granberry as she left her residence and detained her pursuant to the search warrant. Detectives served the warrant and searched the  residence for evidence of narcotics sales. Detectives located approximately 677.5 grams of methamphetamine, scales, packaging material and money believed to be drug sale proceeds.

Based on the investigation, Granberry was arrested for narcotics related charges and booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility. Granberry is awaiting court proceedings. The investigation  is ongoing and additional charges against Cortez are pending.
