Craig’s List sale goes bad: man dragged several feet as thieves drive off with iPads

pharm times;”>Saturday evening, December 20th at 5:17pm Ventura Police received a 911 call from a victim reporting he had just been robbed of two iPads outside of his business in the 60 Block of W. Main St. C

During the investigation officers learned the victim, Willy Chui, 34 years old and a Ventura resident, had posted on Craig’s List that he had 2 iPads for sale. Chui received a call from the suspect, described as a white 36 year old male.  The suspect said he was interested in purchasing the iPads, and agreed to meet with Chui outside his place of business. The suspect took the iPads and went to an awaiting vehicle. A second male was driving the vehicle. As the suspect was getting into the vehicle, Chui reached inside in an attempt to get the iPads from the suspect. The vehicle drove off, dragging Chui for several feet before he let go. The vehicle, described as a dark colored sedan, left the parking lot of the shopping center.

Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect vehicle.

Willy Chui sustained minor scrapes to his arms and legs during the crime, but refused medical treatment.
