Gascon has falsely insinuated the recall effort against him is politically motived
(LOS ANGELES, CA) – In an effort to shift attention away from his dangerous policies that put criminals ahead of crime victims, Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon shamelessly attacked and lied about the crime victims who are organizing the recall effort against him.
Desiree Andrade, an organizer for the Recall George Gascon Campaign whose twenty-year-old son Julian was brutally murdered in California in 2018, responded to Gascon insinuating crime victims like her were politically motivated or being used.
“This is not about politics for me, I am a registered Democrat,” said Desiree Andrade. “This is about the killers who brutally murdered Julian in cold blood and now have a chance to one day receive parole due to Gascon’s pro-criminal agenda that puts victims last.”
“So, when you hear Gascon try to paint what he is doing as ‘reform’, understand what he actually means is reducing sentences for murderers and violent criminals, or not prosecuting violent crime altogether. And when Gascon insults crime victims and tries to brush the recall off as a politically motivated effort, know that he is talking about people like me and many others who are simply devastated by the thought of our loved one’s killers being back on the streets,” Andrade concluded.
Last week, Gascon was served with a notice of intention to circulate a recall petition. The formal service triggers the final steps leading up to the approval and public circulation of official recall petitions. Once the recall petition is approved, proponents will have 160 days to collect roughly 590,000 signatures from registered voters in Los Angeles County.
