D.A. will not see death penalty in the 2013 murder of 18 year old Gabriel Gutierrez

The District Attorney’s Office will not seek the death penalty for Erick Estrada  of Ventura.

Estrada is charged with the murder of 18 year old Gabriel Gutierrez, who was shot to death on July 31, 2013 behind the Ventura County Fairgrounds. 

Estrada was arrested for another, non-fatal shooting, in October of 2013.  Estrada was twenty five years old at the time of Gutierrez’s murder and charges were filed in July of 2014.

At this time, the D.A.’s office has no further comment on this matter.
