Deadlines for fire victims to apply for Individual Assistance or debris removal approaching

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The deadline for residents affected by the Woolsey or Hill fires to apply for Individual Assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency is January 11, 2019.

Ventura County residents can apply online or at the Disaster Recovery Centers FEMA is operating at:

Before visiting a DRC, fire victims are encouraged to apply online at DisasterAssistance.gov or by phone at 800-621-3362 or (TTY) 800-462-7585. Applicants who use 711 or Video Relay Service may call 800-621-3362.

The toll-free numbers are open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. PST seven days a week and multilingual options are available.

Applicants should have the following information at hand:

  • Social Security number.
  • Address of the damaged primary residence.
  • Description of the damage.
  • Information about insurance coverage.
  • A current contact telephone number.
  • An address where they can receive mail.
  • Bank account and routing numbers for direct deposit of funds.

Businesses and residents can go to sba.gov/disaster or call SBA’s Disaster Assistance Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955. Deaf or hard of hearing may call 800-877-8339.

The County of Ventura is coordinating the application process for the California Office of Emergency Services Consolidated Debris Removal Program (CalRecycle) for Ventura County Woolsey and Hill fire victims. The deadline to apply for the program is January 14, 2019.

The required Right-of-Entry forms are available at VenturaCountyRecovers.org. Hard copies of the application forms can also be picked up at the County Government Center. Completed applications may be submitted in-person between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the location below. County staff will be available to answer your questions and guide you through the submittal process. There is no cost to the property owner for the debris removal – except for any applicable insurance reimbursement – but residents need to provide Right-of-Entry forms, insurance information and other important paperwork to allow CalRecycle to clean up their property.
