Thousand Oaks:  On Tuesday, July 17, Dr. Kevin McNamee filled as a candidate for the Thousand Oaks City Council for the November 6, 2018 election.  The long-time resident of Thousand Oaks is an observer and speaker at city council meetings. Dr. McNamee wishes to serve this special city as a citizen-politician by continuing his established clinical practice and community college teaching while helping the city through public policy development about affordable housing, taxation reduction, opioid abuse, traffic congestion, water treatment and sustainability.

“As a Thousand Oaks businessman, healthcare professional and community college instructor, my desire is to serve our wonderful city by bringing innovated ways to make government more efficient, lower taxes, promote job growth, and reduce business killing regulations.  The city is facing significant challenges in financing pension debt, business closure, street repairs, traffic congestion, affordable housing and water availability.”

Dr. McNamee has been meeting with and listening to his patients, college students, community leaders and city managers about pressing issues.  After listening to the people’s views and concerns, Dr. McNamee decided to go to the next level and represent their needs, concerns and values.  As a councilmember, he understands our city is special. It takes a cooperative team effort among council members to make a great city even better.  “We owe a great debt of gratitude to our city founders and subsequent city council members who have successfully carried a vision forward to what we have today.”

A significant part of his platform as a Thousand Oaks Council member will be transparency and open communication with the people.  Dr. McNamee feels that solutions to the city’s many challenges will come from the people.
