DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint and DUI Enforcement Patrol Results

    News Release

Six impaired drivers arrested during simultaneous DUI checkpoint and saturation patrol.

On April 15, 2023, between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m., the Oxnard Police Department and California Highway Patrol – Ventura Office, held a simultaneous DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint at Victoria Avenue and Fifth Street and a city-wide DUI saturation patrol. The operations resulted in six arrests for impaired driving and nineteen citations.

Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.

Funding for this checkpoint and DUI enforcement patrols was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
