Ventura County Sheriff – Incident Press Release
On October 16, 2020, at about 9:35 p.m., the Thousand Oaks Police Department, American Medical Response (AMR) and the Ventura County Fire Department responded to a head on injury traffic collision on Erbes Rd. just south of Hauser Cir. Upon arrival, deputies and AMR rendered aid to both drivers. One of the drivers, Fred Rosenberg, was transported to a local hospital with major injuries. The other driver, Michael Seidman, was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. After Seidman was treated for his injuries at the hospital and later released, he was booked into the Ventura County Main Jail on a felony DUI w
ith injuries charge. A few days later at the hospital, Rosenberg succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. At arraignment on October 20, 2020, Seidman’s charges were then amended to include felony vehicular manslaughter and his bail was set at $500,000.
The initial investigation revealed Seidman was travelling north-bound on Erbes Rd. approaching Hauser Cir. and Rosenberg was travelling south-bound on Erbes Rd passing Hauser Cir. Seidman then swerved his vehicle in front of Rosenberg and they both collided head on. It does appear alcohol was a contributing factor in this collision.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation by the Thousand Oaks Police Department Traffic Bureau. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Deputy Mike Sinacori at (805) 947-8271.
