Ventura County Sheriff – Incident Press Release
A 21 year old male victim died after being shot in El Rio.
At about 12:38 AM on January 11th, the Sheriff’s Communication Center received a call of shots fired in the unincorporated area of El Rio. Deputies responded and located a male victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was treated by emergency medical personnel and transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The investigation determined the victim was traveling north along Alvarado Street when the occupant of another car shot a firearm which struck the vehicle and the victim. At this time, it is unknown if this crime is gang related.
