    Dr. Marshall Foster, sickness founder of the World History Institute, stuff will be the guest speaker at the History Makers International launch of At The City Gates “Lights in the City” campaign at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, link July 30th at the Ventura Carrows Restaurant (2401 Harbor Blvd.).  Dr. Foster is also chairman of the Global Prayer Strategy Initiative (publisher of the World Prayer Atlas).

    “Our culture is about to be overwhelmed by evil forces,” said Dr. Foster,” and it is our turn to stand.  In this generation, Providence has chosen us to pick up the torch and continue the great cause of building the Kingdom of God.”

    Dr. Foster’s message is “The Miracle of America” which needs to be remembered in light of the recent Supreme Court ruling on marriage.   According to Dr. Foster, “Where is our hope then?  Our hope is in the unstoppable, loving power of God which transforms and liberates nations.  The Kingdom of God has and will continue to spread regardless of the machinations of men and nations (see Psalm 2).”

    At The City Gates is a grassroots citizens movement sponsored by History Makers International (a community benefit non-profit corporation serving communities in Ventura County):

    • Praying for reformation and revival;
    • Engaging the culture from a Judeo-Christian worldview;
    • Taking Biblical action that impacts local communities; and
    • Oversees “Lights in the City” campaign.

    Call 818-263-9881. The dinner costs $20 and attendees can choose either chicken, fish or roast.  You can optionally come just for the presentation, but the organizers have a minimum commitment to the restaurant to use the room, so please keep that in mind. Speaking after Dr. Foster will be Michael Hernandez, founder of History Makers International, on the “Lights in the City” campaign.   Dinner guests will participate in small group discussions on how to engage locally in one of the Seven Mountains of cultural influence in society.

    Attendees will select a sphere from which they wish to engage:

    • Government
    • Family
    • Media
    • Education
    • Business
    • Religion
    • Celebration (Entertainment)

    Other spheres of engagement include:

    • Health
    • Culture
    • Technology
    • Sports
    • Freedom (Military/Law Enforcement/First Responders)

    How do we see a whole nation transformed?   Both Loren Cunningham, founder of Youth With A Mission and Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade for Christ, received insight about seven societal spheres in the summer of 1975.  This was confirmed a few weeks later by Francis Schaeffer, who established the L’Abri community in Switzerland.

    At The City Gates “Lights in the City” campaign based on the “call to gatekeepers” (1 Chronicles 9, 23, 26) and the “call to rebuild the walls” (Nehemiah) is a campaign that is challenging Christians to engage a  societal sphere representing Jesus Christ and in effect becoming “Lights in the City.”

    At The City Gates also hosts Prayer Walks on Second Saturdays from 10-11 a.m.  The next Prayer Walk is at KDAR (500 E. Esplanade Drive, Oxnard) on Saturday, August 8th.  Prayer theme is “Fill the Airwaves with Good News.”
