Award-winning author and activist shares solutions for dire water supply predictions

Santa Paula, Calif.– Award-winning author and water activist, Florencia Ramirez, author of Eat Less Water, will be the featured speaker for the next Speaking of Ventura County Speaker Series, 1 to 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 11, at the Museum of Ventura County’s Agriculture Museum in Santa Paula.

Experts predict that by the year 2030, two-thirds of people living on the planet will not have enough water–a situation expected to result in the deaths of millions and contribute to a rise in military conflicts. Ramirez will discuss conservation efforts and share stories of America’s food producers who grow food with less water. Ramirez, an Oxnard resident, sheds light on the seldom-seen connections between dwindling water resources and the choices people make when shopping for groceries and offers a solution that begins in the kitchen.

A trained researcher at the University of Chicago’s School of Public Policy, Ramirez’s articles appear in Edible Communities Magazine and San Jose Mercury News, among others, and her popular blog. She has been interviewed by NPR, American Public Media, KCRW’s Good Food, New York and Bay Area Pacifica Radio, Entertainment Weekly and KTLA Morning News.

Cost is free with general admission; members free. The Agriculture Museum of Ventura County is located at 926 Railroad Ave, Santa Paula. For more information call (805) 525-3100 or email [email protected]
