Moorpark, CA – America’s Teaching Zoo at Moorpark College will host its annual “Boo at the Zoo” festival on Saturday, Oct. 27 and Sunday, Oct. 28 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. This lively event will introduce guests to over 100 animals cared for at the zoo and includes activities and games for children who are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes.

“We have found that our guests are looking for a family friendly Halloween event and we have a great one,” shares Kris Romero, an operations assistant with the zoo. “Each year we have more and more local families discover this gem of a zoo in their own backyard.”

America’s Teaching Zoo is a wonderful destination for families and was recently ranked among the top 100 places to take your kids in Los Angeles by Mommy Poppins Magazine. Children attending “Boo at the Zoo” who wear their Halloween costume will receive a Zoo Bingo card and can earn a small treat for each box they check during their visit.

Animal shows will take place at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. each day, with carnivore demonstrations and feedings beginning at 3:30 p.m. Finally, guests can pay an additional $7 for a behind-the-scenes tour of the zoo at 12:45 p.m. and 2:45 p.m.

“Boo at the Zoo” is open to the public. Ticket prices are $8 for adults, $6 for children ages 3-12, and free for small children ages two and under. All proceeds support America’s Teaching Zoo and the Exotic Animal and Training Management program. Additionally, this year the Moorpark College Foundation will host a Yard Sale & Artisan Fair at the College from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the College’s parking lot B. The Foundation is also proud to host a Roam’n Relics classic car show alongside the fair.
