Annual Dons and Doñas BBQ | Pleasant Valley Historical Society

The Pleasant Valley Historical Society will honor newly selected Dons and Doñas at a BBQ on August 24.

Dons and Doñas are individuals who live in the Camarillo, Somis or Santa Rosa Valley and have provided outstanding community service for the past 20 years.  The designation harkens back to Early California days as the title given to community leaders. Some are members of pioneer families, others have made a difference in the community through their professional and volunteer efforts.  Over 400 people have been given this honor since the event began in 1964.

Dons and Doñas named for 2019 are (L to R): Beth Miller, Edy Santangelo, Lynn Decker-Mahin, Linda Ayerza, Fred Penney, Lyda Noble-Sprinkles, Leticia Taylor, Elaine Magner, Rebecca Pecsok and Felicia Schoenewald.  Honorees not shown are Daniel Schoenewald and Steve Blois.

The public is invited to the celebration, a Santa Maria style BBQ, to be held at the Camarillo Community Center on August 24 from 1 to 4 PM.  For further information and for tickets to the event, see www.pvhsonline.org or phone (805) 484-6601.  The Pleasant Valley Historical Society is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the community by preserving and presenting the history of the area.
