The 15-year anniversary of 9/11 will be marked with music, poetry and a multimedia presentation at California Lutheran University on Saturday, Sept. 10.
The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Samuelson Chapel on the Thousand Oaks campus.
Eric Kinsley, a senior lecturer in the Music Department, will play keyboard selections ranging from Jean-Philippe Rameau’s harpsichord music to original jazz pieces.Kinsley has taught piano at Cal Lutheran since 2009 and also writes, records and performs music. The Thousand Oaks resident has been a member of the New York Contemporary Music Band, Pacific Classical Winds and the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra. He has soloed with the Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra, Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, Pasadena Orchestra, Santa Barbara Symphony and Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra.
Guest vocalist Heidi Valencia Vas, an adjunct faculty member, and jazz bassist Phil Mallory will also perform.
Assistant professor of religion Peter Carlson will read poetry, and a multimedia presentation will be shown as additional tributes to the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and their families.
