Camarillo White Horses To Be Featured At ‘Tales at the Ranch’

    0

The Camarillo Ranch Foundation invites the public to ‘Tales at the Ranch’ featuring the Camarillo White Horses on Wednesday July 19, 2017. The event, which will be held at the Camarillo Ranch, will showcase the Camarillo White Horses in an educational setting designed to present and preserve local history.

The Camarillo White Horses, a rare breed known for their pure white color, originated from the efforts of the city’s namesake – Adolfo Camarillo. Their bloodline can be traced back to 1921 when Adolfo purchased the “Stallion of a dream” at the California State Fair. Sultan was bred with Morgan mares to produce a line of White Horses that continues to this day with 21 remaining in existence.

These horses have become celebrities in their own right, participating in numerous Santa Barbara Fiesta Parades, the opening ceremonies of the 1932 Olympics in Los Angeles and the inauguration of the Oakland Bay Bridge in 1936. The horses also sparked the interest of dignitaries including President Harding and Governor Ronald Reagan who were often seen riding them.

“We are pleased to have the Camarillo White Horses join us for ‘Tales at the Ranch’,” said Martin Daly, CEO of the Camarillo Ranch Foundation. “These horses are living history and great examples of how that history continues to thrive and interest our community.”

Visitors will have the chance to visit with the horses and their owners to learn about this unique breed. In addition to the horse visits, docent-led house tours of Adolfo’s 1892 Queen Anne Victorian mansion will be available. For more information, please visit CamarilloRanch.org
