Celebrate Oxnard’s cultural diversity at the 22nd Annual Multicultural Festival, Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Plaza Park, 500 S. C. Street.  Admission is free.

The Multicultural Festival features a variety of fun, educational activities, entertainment and exhibits for all ages.  This year, the festival’s theme is “Stronger Together in Unity for Peace”.

    • A special performance by “Smooth Sounds of Santana” puts a great deal of pride and effort into coming as close as possible to sounding and looking like an actual SANTANA concert event. From the tone of the guitars to the sound of the keyboard and percussion, you’ll hear that iconic Santana sound and more.  Additional entertainment will be provided by the Seaside Highland Games/MacKinnon Dance, Zambales Filipino Youth Dance Group and more!
    • Stop by the international booths to have your festival passport stamped and learn about the countries represented in the Oxnard community, including Kenya, Mexico, Guatemala, Brazil, Jamaica, Middle East, Scotland, Bolivia, India, China and the Philippines.  Attendees who submit a fully stamped passport will receive a prize and be entered into the hourly raffle.
    • Henna tattoos will be available starting from $3 and up.  Kids can stop by and get a colorful face painting design, enjoy adrenaline-pumping fun in the jolly jumpers and create your own silly hat from the Rad hatter booth and more!
    • Oxnard Peace Parade will occur at 9 a.m. The procession will start at La Colonia Park and end at Plaza Park.  The community is highly encouraged to participate in the Peace Parade and seeks the support of the local churches, non-profit organizations, and all who wish to get involved. It will be followed by a Show-n-Shine Car Show at Plaza Park displaying over 200 classic cars presented by Citizens for a Better Oxnard which is not an affiliation of The City of Oxnard.
    • Art Exhibit presented by Oxnard Scholars After School Program
    • Stop by the food trucks to indulge in cuisine and treats for sale including Filipino food, The Deli Doctor, Bollywood Bites, Magic Churros Hotdogs, Alegria Food Truck, Dippin’ Dots, Candy by Dulces Mexicanos and more!

The 2017 festival is sponsored by Players Casino, Gold Coast Health Plan; Hunt Ortmann Attorneys At Law; Kane, Ballmer & Berkman; and Healthwise Home Care Solutions & Suzanne L. Fussell M.D.  Oxnard Citywatch Television, www.oxnard.org/oxnard-citywatch-television, is this year’s media sponsor.

The Multicultural Festival, www.oxnard.org/multicultural-festival-2017, was introduced to the community in 1995 by the Oxnard Community Relations Commission (CRC), a citizen advisory group whose mission is to promote understanding and respect among all racial, religious and nationality groups in the City and to discourage and prevent discriminatory practices. The festival is organized by the CRC, City of Oxnard staff and volunteers.
