OXNARD, Calif.–Families, friends and neighbors are invited to ring in the holiday season at the 11th annual Oxnard Tamale Festival featuring live entertainment, arts and crafts, family fun and, of course, mouthwatering tamales. The festival will take place in downtown Oxnard from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at Plaza Park, 500 S. C St.
This year’s festival will feature vendors offering a variety of tamales, from the traditional savory and sweet to possibly some not seen at the event before such as last year’s special fusion tamale, blending Filipino and Mexican tastes together into one dish.
The event includes live music, a Best Tamale Contest, Kids Zone, and craft vendor area. Other food will also be available.
Kicking the day off is the city’s annual Holiday Parade, with a theme this year of “Making Spirits Bright.”
With a 10 a.m. start, the parade route wraps around the festival site and features the sights and sounds of colorful marching bands, equestrian units, local school groups, floats and a visit from Santa!
The 2018 Oxnard Tamale Festival is organized by City of Oxnard’s Recreation Division. More information can be found at oxnardtamalefestival.com or on Facebook at facebook.com/oxnardtamalefestival/.
