Community invited to second meeting on short-term vacation rentals, January 31

    0

Residents, property owners and stakeholders are invited to attend the second public meeting on short-term vacation rentals on Tuesday, January 31, from 6-8pm at the Poinsettia Pavilion, 3451 Foothill Road, Ventura. This meeting is a follow-up to the December 13, 2016 community meeting where attendees provided feedback on issues, benefits and potential solutions surrounding short-term vacation rentals in the city of Ventura.

At the meeting, staff will review the feedback collected at the first meeting and complete the work by identifying the most critical issues surrounding short-term vacation rentals within the city of Ventura and developing a comprehensive list of potential solutions to those issues.  Participants are encouraged to review the input from the December 13, 2016 meeting on the City’s website at www.cityofventura.net/ft/stvr.

Next steps will involve forming a small stakeholder group to conduct in depth analysis and research potential solutions to issues involving short-term vacation rentals within the city.  The stakeholder group will utilize the feedback from the community and make recommendations to staff on any changes to the current policies.

In September, the City Council directed staff to engage various stakeholders and the community to review and consider possible changes to the short-term vacation rental ordinance and related policies. City staff expects to hold a third community meeting prior to making recommendations to the City Council on this matter in the spring.
