You are invited to hear Keynote Speaker: Ashwin Gopinath, Ph.D, Senior Research Fellow, California Institute of Technology

What is an Artificial Person?  It’s not a social slur but a term for an android coined by the “Synthetic” character in the Sci-fi film “Alien”.  So, how can bio-systems and A.I. devices of the future be fabricated at a molecular level?

Dr. Ashwin Gopinath of CalTech uses DNA sized molecules to build next generation devices like electronic microchips, optical and biological devices. Every biological structure, from bacteria to giant sequoia trees, are formed by molecules and atoms that self-assemble and grow into larger complex structures.

Dr. Gopinath’s work bridges nanofabrication, optical physics and synthetic biology.. He also works with self-assembled nanostructures, carbon nanotubes, quantum dots, proteins and tools that study individual biomolecules. He joined CalTech in 2010 after innovative research at the Boston University National Center for Biological Sciences.  June 14, 2017, 5:30 p.m. workshop includes, wine tasting mixer, food, and parking.  $15 RSVP on-line required at http://www.cleantechnologycouncil.org
