This two-and-a-half-day tour will traverse parts of Southern California and venture into the Santa Barbara region, hit hard by the 2012-16 drought, wildfires and mudslides. Although Santa Barbara County recently lifted its drought emergency declaration after this winter’s storms replenished local reservoirs, the region’s hydrologic recovery often has lagged behind much of the rest of the state. Planned stops include Pyramid and Cachuma lakes, Freeman Diversion Dam, Twitchell Reservoir, Santa Barbara desalination plant, an atmospheric river observatory, Cambria water reclamation facility and Piedras Blancas State Marine Reserve. The tour begins and ends at the Burbank airport.
