EF YSA Conference Brings Together Young Single Adults from Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Camarillo, Ventura, Santa Maria & Santa Barbara

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is hosting an EF YSA (Especially For Young Single Adults) Multi-Stake Conference this coming July 6-9, 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 1600 Erbes Rd., Thousand Oaks, California.

The theme of the conference is “Prepare Ye Every Needful Thing” (Doctrine & Covenants 88:119).  Young Single Adults from Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Newbury Park, Ventura, Santa Maria and Santa Barbara will gather together to study, build and strengthen friendships with activities.

Beginning on Thursday, July 6, the Young Single Adults will have the opportunity to attend the LDS Los Angeles Temple.  Also, Brother Grant Brimhall, former President of the Los Angeles Temple, will speak at the Los Angeles Visitor’s Center located on the Temple grounds, open to the public for those who do not attend the temple sessions.  A tour of the Visitor’s Center is most beautiful and spiritual where you learn more about the Temple, families, and the Savior Jesus Christ.

On Friday, July 7, a social evening is scheduled which includes volleyball games, a movie and refreshments.

On Saturday, July 8, the keynote speaker will be Ken Daurio, Writer and Director, known for “Despicable Me” (2010), “Despicable Me 2” (2013) and “The Secret Life of Pets” (2016) and will be followed by 5 personal growth workshops entitled, “Handling Finances,” “Relationships,” “Health & Well Being,” “Seek Learning by Study & Also by Faith,” and “Time Management.”

For a service opportunity, attendees will be creating refugee welcome baskets with items that were donated by the members of the church.

Dinner will follow and the Saturday evening events conclude with a dance with music provided by a DJ.

Sunday, July 9, provides a special spiritual conclusion to the conference with a two-hour church meeting starting at 1 pm.  Presiding over this meeting will be Elder Gary K. Wilde, Area Seventy, Fifth Quorum … former Bishop, High Councilor, Regional Director of Public Affairs and Stake President.  Conducting this meeting will be Thousand Oaks Stake President Richard K. Olsen.

Leaders support Young Single Adults by helping them draw near to the Lord, strengthen their testimonies, and take responsibility for their own spiritual, social, and temporal well-being.  Young single adults make many important decisions during this stage of their lives.

President Henry B. Eyring, First Counselor in the First Presidency, taught that strengthening the young members in the Church helps them better navigate their lives.  He said, “We encourage young people in the rising generation to see their own potential to build great spiritual strength.” President Eyring also said, “Since the future of the Church depends upon them, all of us care.”
