Residents are invited throughout the year to drop-off their worn, torn, and tattered American flags at the Thousand Oaks City Hall, 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd., City Clerk Department, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Flags are kept until the Huberth VFW Post holds their annual Wreath Laying and Flag Retirement Ceremony in June.

This year, their Flag Retirement Ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 14, 10 a.m. in the Civic Arts Plaza, Mary and Richard Carpenter Plaza Park.  The public is welcome to attend and honor one of our country’s most powerful symbols of Americanism.

American flags dropped-off in the Scherr Forum Lobby between Monday, June 2 and Friday, June 13, 2013 may be placed in a special flag chest created for honoring our flags.  During the Flag Day Ceremony, the flags are moved to the crematory for disposal in a dignified manner.
