A VENTURA MINUTE invites emerging filmmakers to create experimental micro-documentaries that explore and illuminate the diverse subjects, stories, issues and historical moments that make up the ever-evolving fabric of this city.  A total of 6 unique short films will be created by 12 local teens artists and makers working in pairs. Utilizing a variety of analog techniques and technologies including Super 8 film and eco-processing with non-toxic developers created from local plants, the filmmakers will create films reflective of personal interests, histories and experience including native plants, family heritage relationships to the land. The films will be shot over a 24-hour period, filmed in-camera, processed as a group then presented to friends and family during a community screening!! This workshop is made possible by the generous support of the Ruth & Joseph C. Reed Foundation for the Arts and the California Arts Council.
