    Ventura Mayor Cheryl Heitmann will MC the upcoming “Jobs for our Future” summit at the Ventura College Performing Arts Center, 4700 Loma Vista Rd, on Thursday, September 11, 2014, from 8 am to 12:30 pm. Register online at tinyurl.com/RegisterJobsForOurFuture
    ($25/student, $50, includes lunch).

    Learn about new ways for your business to participate in the resurgence of manufacturing in the United States and Ventura County. Discover innovative programs and funding available throughout California to assist businesses and increase jobs. Interact with leaders in business, government and education and give them your ideas for initiatives that would help improve and expand your business.

    “This is a unique and exciting opportunity for our region to explore how to prepare our workforce for the jobs of the 21st century and to learn how we can take advantage of the economic incentives that will enhance our businesses and improve the economy in Ventura County,” said Mayor Heitmann.

    Six speakers will address these issues and provide time for Q&A and networking:

    Greg Gillespie, Ventura College President, “Career Pathways – Creating Opportunities through Educational and Business Partnerships”
    Lucy Dunn, President and CEO of the Orange County Business Council, “From Red Tape to Red Carpet” adapting OC’s business program to Ventura County”
    Kish Rajan, Director of the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development, “California Job Forecast: Economic development and jobs programs for Ventura County”
    John Ratzenberger, host of “Made in America,” “Manufacturing in America: bringing skilled jobs back from overseas”
    Mike Soules, President of Corwin, K-12 Publisher, “How do we get to the jobs of the future? It’s all about education and training”
    Harold Edwards, Director, President and CEO, Limoneira, “Putting it all together, a call to action and your ideas to expand business in Ventura”
