Maryl Walters will present an inspirational, practical and free talk about healing the challenges of coming together in the post-election time period. The free talk, “Our Government Under the Healing and Unifying Power of Divine Love,” will take place on Sunday, Oct. 1, from 1 to 2 p.m. at California Lutheran University, Lundring Events Center inside the Gilbert Sports & Fitness Center, 130 Overton Court, Thousand Oaks. All are invited and welcome. This talk is sponsored for our community by First Church of Christ, Scientist, Thousand Oaks.
“It’s time for this nation to come together as Americans and find ways to heal the rancor and fear that we’re experiencing,” Walters said. “In this talk, attendees will learn how we can all experience the power of divine Love to heal our personal relationships and bless our communities and nation.”
Walters is an interfaith activist and inspirational speaker, and has a master’s degree in theological studies from Eden Seminary in St. Louis, Mo. She has participated in Christian-Jewish and Christian-Muslim dialogues as a member of the Interreligious Relations Convening Table of the National Council of Churches and is on the Cabinet of Interfaith Partnership in St. Louis, where she lives. She is a practitioner of Christian Science healing, helping people solve personal and community-wide challenges through prayer.
Christian Science is based on the Bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ. It uses a textbook to help explain in practical ways how Biblical healing can be practiced today. This textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, was authored by Mary Baker Eddy. It shows how prayer works to resolve both every-day and difficult challenges with health, relationships, employment and other personal and national issues. Healings result from a better understanding of God and of the individual’s relationship to God. The Science of Christianity opens windows of thought that help individuals draw closer to God as well as to all of humanity.
