    0

Diversity leaders Soraya Deen and Rick Najera will speak at Canoga Park High School in Canoga Park, CA on Thursday, February 9 at 7 p.m. to raise funds for Multicultural Learning Center’s (MLC) graduating class of 2017 and for Canoga Park High School’s Communication, Arts & Media Magnet program.

“Canoga Park High School is proud to host this fundraiser on the topic of ‘Diversity & Comedy’” said Robert Garcia, principal of Canoga Park High School. “To have such distinguished speakers is a treat for the Canoga Park Community. In public education, and especially within the current political climate, humor is an excellent way to raise awareness about and discuss the virtues of diversity.”

“At the Multicultural Learning Center, a K-8 dual immersion public charter school, it has been our vision for the past 15 years to bring together a diverse community of learners where cultural and individual differences are the building blocks of academic, social, and intrapersonal success,” said Gayle Nadler, executive director of Multicultural Learning Center. “Our scholars are proof that when you learn and live in a culture of diversity and shared language, it is possible to tear down the walls that separate us and instead develop a community of citizens who are respectful, responsible safe, caring, tolerant, and ready to take on the world together.”

The talk is family friendly and an excellent opportunity for students and the community.  Complimentary parking is available across the street at the Southeast corner of Topanga Canyon Blvd. and Vanowen Street. Proceeds go toward MLC’s 2017 graduating class and Canoga Park High School Communication, Arts & Media Magnet program.

Diversity & Comedy Fundraiser presented at Canoga Park High School’s Assembly Hall, (6850 Topanga Canyon Blvd., Canoga Park, CA 91303) will take place on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 7pm. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.  Tickets (only $5 or VIP $15) can be purchased online or at the door.
