    Ojai Raptor Center to Host Fall Open House–Oct. 25th

    clinic arial,sans-serif;”>raptorOjai Raptor Center (ORC) is hosting their Fall Open House on Sunday, October 25, offering the public a rare and close up view of raptors including hawks, eagle, vultures, falcons and owls.

    Normally, ORC is closed to the public year-round because of the sensitive nature of wildlife in rehabilitation, but for the Fall Open House, ORC will open its doors to the public from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. to allow the public to tour the center and the largest flight aviary in California.

    ORC’s 2015 Spring Open House will be themed “Raptors of the Ojai Valley”. Meet and greet with ORC’s newest education ambassadors including Miki the Mississippi Kite, Red the Red-Shouldered Hawk and Drifter the Broad-Winged Hawk. Other non-releasable ambassadors will also be on hand to greet guests and will be also be available for viewing during stage presentations. The open house will also feature fun activities for kids, Chumash stories, a silent auction and a chance to win a raptor release with the ORC staff.

    The Ojai Raptor Center is located at 370 Baldwin Road, Ojai, CA 93023. The ORC Fall Open House will take place on Sunday, October 25, 2015. Admission is $5 per person, while all children ages 10 and under free. Snacks and refreshments will be available for purchase. All proceeds will benefit Ojai Raptor Center. This is a dog-free event. Handicapped parking will be available. Additional parking will be located 1 mile from the Center with a Pegasus shuttle running every 10 minutes, follow signage.     Ojai Raptor Center is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization, is dedicated to the rehabilitation and release of birds of prey and other wildlife and to providing educational programs to teach communities about wildlife and our shared environment. This facility takes in an average of 1,000 animals a year, specializing in raptors, with a release rate of 65%. ORC provides permanent sanctuary to some of the non-releasable raptors who go on to become education ambassadors in the Wildlife Education Program.
