DESCRIPTION
Announcing the third annual Disaster Preparedness Training Academy on Saturday, March 18th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center located at 800 Hobson Way. The academy will provide a series of workshops that will provide basic training in Disaster First Aid, Fire Suppression and Extinguisher Use, Search and Rescue and Disaster Preparedness.
The event will begin with a one hour presentation on the tsunami threat along Oxnard’s coast and a review of the evacuation plans that are currently being updated, and then an optional workshop for participants to provide input to the plans.
The preparedness workshops will begin at 10 a.m. Each workshop will be 50 minutes long and will be offered in English and Spanish. There will be a one hour lunch break and participants can either bring a sack lunch or go off site.
Certificates will be given to those who complete four workshops.
