Oxnard, Calif.—The Oxnard Union High School District is hosting its 2019 Career Education Showcase Thursday, January 31 at the Courtyard by Marriott Oxnard (600 E. Esplanade Dr., Oxnard). The community event is open to middle schoolers, high schoolers and their parents who are interested in exploring the academic and career path opportunities offered at Oxnard Union high schools.

“Our programs help students make informed decisions about their future careers. They learn about the types of industries that have high demand, high wage jobs. Students who finish our programs graduate with a strong skill set that will be beneficial whether they continue to college or immediately start a career,” says Rebecca Chandler M.Ed., Director of Career Education at the Oxnard Union High School District. “We want to give each student who participates the ability to have powerful and rewarding careers.”

Students can choose from 76 Pathways and Academies during their high school years. Pathways include robotics, architecture, information technology, agriculture, education, culinary and hospitality. Academies focus on business and technology, marine science, engineering and design, law and public service and green technology.

Teachers and principals will be on hand to talk about the programs their high schools offer and answer questions.

The showcase is from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. For more information, go to www.oxnardunion.org/career-education, call 805-487-7582.
