    S.O.S.–Serve our Sailors and public during U.S.S. Ronald Reagan visit–Call for Volunteers

    Jason Nelson of the Navy League looking for volunteers for next weekend’s event when Santa Barbara hosts the USS Ronald Reagan!

    If you can help on Friday, price Saturday, cialis and or Sunday, the following steps are needed from you.

    1. An email to Jason Nelson <[email protected]outlining your preference of 3 of the 5 events (SEE BELOW for EVENT A, or B or C or D or E or F).

    2.  Be sure to include the following:

    your time availability, your name, your date of birth and contact phone #.  

    3. A sample email is included below.

    Please share with your friends see if they are willing to volunteer with you!

    Let’s show up, stand up, and give these sailors a great time!

    Please select three events, and put them in order of preference. Also, please give me the desired time you would like, or if need be, the limits of when you can work. I will do my best to attach each of you to an event that best suits your needs! Lastly, I need your full name and date of birth, and a contact phone number.     Once they have all the assignments, you will be sent your point of contact, your check-in time, and a map. If you are aware of any other people who would like to volunteer, please share this with them, and have them contact me. Events like these are even more fun with friends around!

     “A” Event- Farewell BBQ for our Sailors at the Carriage Museum: This event is for the general public and our adopted sailors to interact and share a meal! There will be music, and great food and beverages, with all proceeds going towards the adopted units of the SBNL.

    Primary Volunteer Work: Set-up and tear down, reception table, serving drinks/selling drink tickets (21 and over for this task), and general policing during the event.

    Show Time– 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 1st, 2014

    Duration– 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    Dress Code– Casual clothing, comfortable shoes (T-shirt provided)

    “B” Event- Stearns Wharf:

    This Volunteer activity will be the most visible, and directly supportive of our sailors. This position will direct sailors up into the city, and give them information about events, activities and businesses throughout our city. Volunteers will also will direct the public to the check in for tours.

    Primary Volunteer Work- For outgoing people only, this position will need to be proactive in their work in order to direct the public, and our sailors, towards their desired locations, as well as answer inquiries regarding the ship.

    Total Volunteers for this Event- 18-24, (depending on scheduling and availability)

    Location- Stern’s Wharf

    Show Time- Friday, May 30th, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, and Sunday, 8 a.m. till 4 p.m.

    Duration- Either a 4 hour, or 8 hour shift, depending on day and availability

    Dress Code- Casual clothing, comfortable shoes (T-shirt provided)

    “C” Event- Harbor Office

    This event is intended to control the access to the Harbor office, as well as to direct the general public to public tour check-in and other key public events.

    Primary Volunteer Work– Standing at the base of the Harbor office, directing the public to other locations, and dispensing information as needed.

     Show Time– Saturday May 31st, and Sunday June 1st, various report times, starting at 8:00 a.m.

     Duration– 3 – 8 hour shifts, depending on (your) availability

     Dress Code– Casual clothing, comfortable shoes (T-shirt provided)

     “D” Event- Chiefs Reception

    This event is a reception for the senior NCOs of the USS Reagan, to take place at a private residence in Hope Ranch.

    Primary Volunteer Work– Set up and tear down of the party, pouring drinks, serving food, and clearing tables

     Location– Hope Ranch (specific address released upon assignment)

     Show Time– Saturday, May 31st at 2 p.m.

     Duration– 2 p.m. till 7:30 p.m.

     Dress Code– Black on black (if possible)

     “E” Event- Check-in for Public tours

    This event is one of the pivotal functions throughout the Reagan’s visit. This assignment will mean responsibility for checking in those who are scheduled for tours, answering questions from the general public, and liaising with Navy security.

    Primary Volunteer Work– This assignment will mean responsibility for checking in those who are scheduled for tours, answering questions from the general public, and liaising with Navy security.

    Total Volunteers for this Event23-33 (depending on availability of volunteers)

    Location– Harbor area

    Show Time– Saturday, May 31st at 7 a.m., Sunday, June 1st at 7 a.m., and Sunday June 1st at 3 p.m.

    Duration– 3-6 hours per day, depending on availability

    Dress Code– Casual clothing (t-shirts provided)

    “F” Event- Parking lot monitors

    The SBCC lots have been donated for tour parking only, and this will be a check in station for most volunteers, as well.

    Primary Volunteer Work– Assisting with parking, directions, and general information

    Total Volunteers for this Event 8-16 (depending on availability of volunteers)

    Location– SBCC lower parking lots

    Show Time– Saturday, May 31st at 7 a.m., Sunday, June 1st at 7 a.m., and Sunday June 1st at 3 p.m.

    Duration– 4-8 hours per day, depending on availability

    Dress Code– Casual clothing (t-shirts provided)
