Santa Paula Art Museum Reopens October 14

    Santa Paula Art Museum

The Santa Paula Art Museum will reopen on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, as part of Ventura County’s reopening plan. Current exhibitions include “Inspiration and Influence” featuring Ventura sculptor Duane Dammeyer and Ventura painter Rima Muna, and “Santa Paula Sojourn,” a solo exhibit by Thousand Oaks painter Shannon Celia. Visitors can also preview the 20 works of art that will be available in the Museum’s November online art auction, including works by Jessie Arms Botke, Cornelis Botke, and Douglas Shively. The Santa Paula Art Museum and gift shop will be open regularly Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is $4.00 for adults, $3.00 for seniors, and free for students and members.

With the reopening of the Museum, artists Celia, Dammeyer, and Muna are finally getting the chance to share and celebrate their respective exhibitions. Both exhibits were installed in the spring but have remained largely unseen by the public due to pandemic closures. On Saturday, October 24, 2020, the Museum will host a series of free, after hours tours of “Santa Paula Sojourn” led by Shannon Celia between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Each half hour, five visitors will get to spend 30 minutes enjoying “Santa Paula Sojourn” with the artist in tow. It will be a new (and socially distant) way to experience the exhibit and meet the artist. Once the 30-minute tour has finished, guests will be able to enjoy the Museum’s other offerings. On Saturday, November 7, 2020, Duane Dammeyer and Rima Muna will lead 30-minute tours of their exhibit, “Inspiration and Influence,” from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Guests can sign up for these free tours on the Museum’s website:

For the safety and comfort of all museum guests and volunteers, everyone inside the Museum will be required to wear a face covering for the duration of their visit. Visitors must also sanitize or wash their hands immediately upon entry and maintain 6 feet of distance between themselves and any person not in their party. Groups visiting the Museum together are limited to no more than 6 persons. Museum staff and volunteers will not be handling cash at this time (only credit or debit cards will be accepted). The Santa Paula Art Museum is adhering to all health screening procedures and cleaning and disinfecting protocols set forth by the County of Ventura, California Department of Public Health, and the CDC. The Santa Paula Art Museum’s current exhibitions, gift shop, and a large variety of educational resources will remain accessible online for those who prefer to enjoy the Museum from home.

The Santa Paula Art Museum occupies two historic buildings located at 117 N 10th Street and 123 N 10th Street in downtown Santa Paula. The Museum features rotating exhibitions of vintage and contemporary art, art classes for children and adults, a well-curated gift shop and more. Questions?
